Mag+, a spin-off of consumer publisher Bonnier, today announced that Bonnier SVP Gregg Hano has been named CEO of the digital publishing platform developer.

Hano succeeds Mag+ co-founder Staffan Ekholm, who the company said will return to Stockholm to focus on international expansion and business development.

Hano, who will assume the CEO role on May 7, was SVP of Bonnier corporate sales and its Technology Group, which which includes Popular Science, Popular Photography, American Photo and Sound + Vision magazines. Hano has aggressively led the Technology Group into the mobile space; Popular Science+ was one of the first digital publications to debut on Apple's first-generation iPad in April 2010.

"Technology has given us extraordinary ways to consume media and has challenged us to innovate the methods to reach our readers through these emerging channels," Hano said in a guest post for eMediaVitals earlier this year. "We're preparing all of our brands to meet that challenge and deliver the best digital experience possible."

Hano is scheduled to speak at eMediaVitals' Digital Trailblazers Summit in New York next month.
