Chart: iOS, Android battle for mobile development mindshare

iPhone, iPad and Android are generating the most market share among mobile devices. It's no surprise, then, that developers are focusing heavily on these platforms as well.

A new study from InsightExpress and Mocean Mobile found that iPhone, iPad and Android are the clear leaders among the platforms in which developers are investing time and resources. Nearly three-quarters of the 95 respondents said they have a "very aggressive" focus on iPhone. More than half feel the same way about iPad (56%) and Android phones (53%).

Developers are less convinced about Android tablets, with only 24% citing a very aggressive focus on that platform. And bad news for BlackBerry and Windows: 38% said they were not focused at all on BlackBerry, and 31% said the same about Windows.

Squarely in the middle: the mobile web.

The State of Mobile Ad Serving study also looks at the fragmentation in the mobile ad server market.
