While mobile is becoming more of a focus for media companies to deliver news, information, and advertising, Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) just introduced that Mobile Device Privacy Act requiring companies to "inform consumers if tracking software is installed on a mobile phone or application" and to get an opt-in from them before any software can begin gathering data. This includes letting users know what type if information will be gathered and how it will be used.
