Interstitials are full-screen ads that appear as you're loading a web page, usually a homepage, forcing the user to wait 15 or 20 seconds or manually close the ad before entering the publisher's site. Interstitials seem like a web relic, but a number of major media brands still use them, including Forbes and the New York Times. Providing this type of full-on roadblock to content is no way to reward a loyal audience. What's more, interstitials are finding
